Home Staging is the practice of preparing a house for sale so that it shows like a “model home” and appeals to the widest range of buyers possible. Realtor Magazine Online (Feb 2007) reported that PROFESSIONALLY staged homes sell an average of 50% faster and for 7% more than non-staged homes! This backs up a previous study from 2004 published in USA Today which found virtually the same statistics. Home staging is pure economics. A 2007 HomeGain survey of over 2000 real estate agents from across the country reported that the average staging cost nets a home seller over 343% return on each dollar spent!

Today’s buyers shop for homes differently than buyers have in the past, however. The National Association of Realtors reports that 90% of all buyers now use the internet to search for homes. The NAR also reports that today’s average buyer visits only 9 to 10 homes in person (after doing their online research) before purchasing a home.
